falling now, coming soon
If the wood toy post from yesterday was of interest to you, be sure to read through the comments - there are some wonderful resources that you all shared, and answers to many of the questions that were asked in comments and emails yesterday. Thank you!

The colors outside are amazing right now - so rich and lush. Ezra says the leaves are dancing in the sky. Yes, that's just what they're doing. I've been hanging on to these last bits of fall - trying to soak them
up and absorb them for the winter to come. Snow might come as early as
this weekend. A holiday next week. And then, well...it's December. I'm
seeing inspiring, creative and beautiful holiday work all over the
internet, and admiring the Holiday Shop updates from all the crafty
folk. A new season approaches...

This blanket is as child's size 'take-along' quilt. I thought very much
of Ezra's 'dancing leaves' when making this. And I need look no further
than out my studio window
for the color inspiration I needed. This one is made with a very soft
washable wool, and like my others - has ties on the end for rolling and
carrying along.
I'll have this quilt, a few others, and maybe some other little treats - in the shop on Tuesday, November 27th. I'll remind you when we get a little closer. For now, though, those leaves are certainly calling to play, and I'm doing my best to stay present in this season while also looking forward to the next.

lovely...i love the dolly too. where did you get it?

We must be of very similar crafty mind because I have a "family tree" quilt on my cutting table right now that is very much like your precious tree quilt. It will eventually become a wall hanging in my foyer but my sewing time is precious and scattered amongst busy life with four little ones on the move. I'm so sure you can relate.
Anyway, thanks for the inspiration and motivation as always!

Oh - I am struggling to stay in this lovely spring season here when I am mentally psyching myself up for an unpleasantly hot indoors summer. Love the quilt!

I am smitten with this quilt and the photos. And I just can't help asking myself... where does she find the time? Amazing!

Wow, did you somehow find the secret to getting more than 24 hours in day? You are absolutely amazing. How you are able to stay so driven? I really admire you. Also, I can't even imagine that many leaves falling. It's as if they extend up and are blanketing "A" in the second picture.

Lovely quilt! I think I need one in my size!

That last photo is beautiful. It is just the kind of picture I wish I had of myself as a child. I think your children are so lucky that in so many ways you have documented not only your journey, but theirs. There's a tarot card called the "Fool"...and it usually marks the start of a journey or section of one's life when we need to remember to be flexible and open minded like a child...this picture just reminds me of that card...like she's off to see it all. You seem to have such a charmed life and you are fun to read because it's so real.

Okay, I'm about to suggest something really crazy! Your first book isn't even out yet and I can't wait for the second one to be published. I was wondering what would you think about publishing your whole blog in book form on Blurb, and selling it as a book to others who are truly inspired by your creativity, mothering technique, artistic eye, thought provoking view of the world and your surroundings, etc...I bet there are many, many people who would buy it just as they are going to buy the two books you have written and are writing. Your posts, photos and everything would make one of the most inspiring books. A book you could pick up and read over and over again. I love books that when you are reading them and you get to the end you don't want it to be the end. Yours could be a separate book for each year of your blog, a never ending story of sorts. If I remember right you mentioned in earlier posts about doing this for your children. Anyway, I told you it was a crazy idea. Would anyone else out there like to see a Soulemama's blog book? Inspiration to carry with you when you can't log on. I read several blogs pretty regularly. Yours however, fits the bill as the total package. Laughs, creativity, motherhood, inspiration, and sincerity all in one. Thanks for such a wonderfully thoughtful and in the moment blog.

SimplybySandi - You're very sweet, thank you! I'm honored that you would want to 'carry' this blog around! I think I like it right in the format it's in, though. I did transfer the blog into book form just for myself and the kids as an archive, and a lot really gets lost in the transition of format. I suppose it's right where it should be here. Thank you!

Joining the I heart the dancing leaves quilt society. How beautiful to have such defined seasons - I'm in southern Australia, and while we have more distinct seasons than central and northern parts, we don't have regular, reliable snow to mark the winter. Even ski-fields are not 100% reliable...so to see THAT many leaves on the ground all at once: MAGICAL!
Also; inspiring, honest and true-to-life as always....my fave morning read, too! (though if I stay up late enough, I get to read the new update before bed!)
I, too feel like I carry a part of soule-family inspiration with me in my day, as I parent the two wee ones in my life and try to get creative, playful and mindful of the moment. Can't wait for the books!

the quilt is inspiring! and she was a beautiful model. i have to ask about that hat, though. where did it com from?
btw, i think that selling the blog/book would be a pretty neat idea.

Opened your page with Asher in my lap.
"Mama!"
"Hmmm?"
"MAMA! I like that one!"
It seems he's a fan of your tree quilt, too.

I love that it has its own straps built in. I would never have thought of that. GENIUS! : )

love your quilt! I have been thinking a lot about leaves this year. There is a passage in scripture that talks about the leaves that are on the tree of life are for the healing of the nations. I like to think of leaves bringing healing. I know this fall has been healing for me in many ways. Thanks for the reminder thru your quilt. it is really beautiful. May the Lord bless you this Thanksgiving.

soooo lovely...did you want to give suggestions for a source for wool of this type? i've been trying for ages to get hold of some fairly affordable wool to make all kinds of things with. perhaps i'll score this one when your shop opens tuesday!
