making our way through the February Funk

Bed
#1. Stay in bed. And read. (Flannel sheets, down comforter and smartwool socks required.)

Comments

Oh, how lovely. My young one doesn't really believe in staying in bed...

I am loving your #1 solution to the February funk!!!
:o)

Amen! I love that solution. I think I'll join you. James and I will cuddle up here in Tennessee with some good books too!! Have a cozy morning!

Cute!

Looks like my favorite bedding combo- flannel sheets but regular cotton pillow cases. Something about the pillows not feeling cool drives me nuts.

I loved Always, Rachel. Have you read The House of Life by Paul Brooks? I'd recommend that one too if you're into Rachel Carson.

you know i am all for staying in bed, especially if it involves at least one child willing to cuddle!

yep, yep, yep! Perfect day for a book party!

and I adore smartwool socks!!! I have two pair and wear them all the time- I found them in Swains in WA!

That looks so snuggly. I'm envious.

What a great idea! We did much the same on Saturday...I always think February reminds us to slow down.

Enjoy!

My mom gave me the book "Babies" when my son was born. Such an old book...very sweet illustrations. We edit the "but good or bad" part out of the last page since all babies are most decidedly GOOD!
Hang in there. February reminds me of the early sleepless nights of parenting a newborn. The days can seem to stretch into eternity, but really last such a short time. May spring visit you and your dear family very soon!

looks like heaven.

How I wish I could have done that this morning. It's -9 degrees here. Ugh.

oh aren't smartwool socks just the best? that is a very cozy looking photo. i love the pillowcase!

Thank you for starting this. We are actually headed back to bed, my daughter's not feeling great today. How 'bout those knee high stripey (sp) smartwools? I only have one pair and have asked for more for Valentines day. Husband thinks that's a little less than romantic. I say a happy, toasty wife is very romantic! Enjoy the babes, books and flannel. Oh, and the smartwool.

we have the BABIES book too! Nothing is better than "momma's bed" and books at our house too! http://homemakerang.blogspot.com/2006/12/momma-and-ruthie-reading-time-yesterday.html

My daughter has been known to dig around in the hamper for her smartwool socks. Looks comfy!

February is such an odd month. Its definitely spring like here at the moment though. I am willing winter away, but everything is just starting to bloom again. So do I change the nature table to spring or do I wait??! Could have a few more lie-ins with books too though. Looks good :)

Oh how I wish I could have flannel sheets! I think my husband would die of heat stroke if I got them. But I just LOVE laying on them. Maybe I'll sneak some on and he won't notice. : ) I have actually moved all of our living room furniture around when he was at work one day and he never noticed. : )

That looks like a really fun way to spend a morning. :-) I'm terribly jealous.

fun and cozy!

so sweet and cozy - especially today! bbbrrrr.

Looks nice and cozy! We decided to ward of the February Funk by pretending it was summer. We made chocolate-dipped strawberries and lemon sorbet. Yum!

Mom and Dad's bed - whatever you need it to be!

Ahh, I wish I could spend our February mornings in bed together. I miss those days but it's wonderful to see you enjoying them instead!

My grandmother gave me the book Babies for my first birthday. There is a baby in the book with wispy blonde hair and a clown doll that she thought looked like me( the girl, not the clown), so being crafty and talented...she made the exact same outfit and clown doll for me. I always thought the illustration was of me and my clown doll!

That sounds like the absolutely most perfect way to spend the day (especially with the requirement of socks.)

ohmigosh, it was in the low-70's today for us! Polar opposites! I actually went without socks/tights today! I cherish those days we laid around - it's Science Fair Project mode at our house!

Inspired by you I posted my own for yesterday (http://mainelyamom.blogspot.com/2007/02/february-funk-inspired-by-soulemama-1.html).

Thanks for the idea. It's great to know someone else is wrestling through this month.

i spy gyo fujikawa illustrations! i heart gyo.
