green hat

Did I really just name this post the most uninspired title of 'green hat'? And did I really just actually post that photo for all the world (okay, just the few people who read this blog) to see? I think I did. Apparently, there is no end to the humiliation I will put myself through to bring you new! fresh! content! every! weekday! (Okay, so maybe I'm a little sleep deprived - two year molars; birthday prep; 2 am grocery lists running through my head - you know how it is. Sometimes life makes you sleepy. Oh, and I swear that I am leaning on that door not for some lame attempt at an artsy shot, but rather to hold myself up. From falling over in sleepiness.)
As I was saying. This is my new hat. (And THAT is the mess on my studio floor.) The yarn is from Lizette that I showed you yesterday (just a reminder that the package arrived a month ago. Just so you don't go thinking I'm some Super Knitter.) It was an unmarked skein (she bought it on her travels), so I can't tell you what the yarn is - except to describe it as 'yummy' - definitely a wool blend. I used the Elf Caps pattern from Melanie Falick's Handknit Holidays (no, I still haven't gotten the courage to try those fabulous socks). Big chunky yarn + small project + my favorite color in yummy yarn = happy (and warm) me.
Now if we could just get some snow so I could actually wear it. This crusty hard 1 inch that we have is just no good for sleeping. Puts a crink in yer neck.

Ah, a fellow green lover like myself. Now I know why I like you (that, and the fact that you are ultra crafty)!

Yep, we want some snow as well, especially the children, as we've been reading so much about winter and snow - but where is it? ;)) They don't know nothing about the global warming yet...

Wake up girl. Danger, danger. Sleeping on crusty snow. That hat is a breath of fresh air. My eyes so happy for green. Days like yesterday and today are made for all day inside/outside hat wearing. Brrrrrr.

It looks like we won't have to wait to long, the weatherman this morning says we should be getting a decent storm Friday. Boy...anything is better than the bitter chill outside my window this morning.
Have a great day!

You could have named it "twist of lime" :) I just wanted to let you know that I always enjoy reading your blog. It makes me feel so much closer to my own children and it alway lifts my moods up even higher.

Today is the kind of day you really need a hat and yours is the best! I've been reading your blog for about a month now. You always brighten my day. Thanks. Also, thanks for turning me on to Marden's. I live in NH and there is one about 45 minutes away. It's our new big outing. You've enlightened me to the joys of thrifting, too. Last week I found some great fabric at Goodwill and it was half price. It lifted my mood for the rest of the week! Thank you. Be warm.

Great hat, what a lovely colour! Have you read 'Blue hat, green hat' by Sandra Boynton? If you haven't, then you should - it and so many of her others are fondly-remembered childhood favourites in my family.

Amanda ... you're too damn cute in every way! I love your perfectly perfect green hat and your warm honesty ... hope you have snow soon (it's warm and rainy here in Brittany, grrrrr, I miss my Quebec winters even though I never thought I'd say that!)

I love the chunkiness of the hat too but most of all the swirl on the top. :o)
We have the crusty snow here...it is cold!
I would like our rain back now since we arent going to have any fun with just a crust of snow in patches outside...I would rather have warmer air and rain. Ha! Didnt think I would ever say that!
Great hat!

A green hat is a green hat, no need to get fancy with titles...love the whimsy of this post. I have been visiting for quite some time, so inspiring you are. I have recently entered the blogging world, it's evolving, haven't added my crafting category yet. Still trying to make my way out from under the holiday heap of craft remnants. Almost there. I have to say I was moved and comforted by the similarities in our Dr. Martin Luther King day posts. Anyway, I have linked to you on my site and hope it is okay. Let me know if you'd rather I removed the link. Peace.

Maybe all the cute lil girls in this world are conspiring together, cause my cute lil girlie is keeping me up to. Love the hat!

Love the hat, but I have still not started the great hat you posted a pattern for months ago. I discovered the circular needles I bought are too LONG! As a novice I did not realize the length was so critical to success. But I still love the yarn, and February is my knitting month, usually, so I'll let you know what comes of it. Thanks for sharing so much with everyone.

I love it. You just make things. You think, I'll make it, and then, whoosh, it's made! It's taking me a week to finish a simple scarf for a friend!!
Keep warm and toasty!! And wishing you snow...(and us too! Maybe Knoxville might get some next week!)
