for jumping on
Some pillows I finished last week. I'm trying to brighten up our living room a bit...since our spring paint fest, the colors in this room have never been quite right. But summer came and we were outside so much that I did my best to ignore it. Now that we're headed back in a bit, something must be done about it, or I'll be batty by November. To avoid repainting (yeah. That's not happening again), my plan is to just change everything else about the room (ha!). Starting with these pillows. Then a new rug (I'm dreaming about this one. Too bad there's no local discount. Sigh.). I have a ridiculous habit of moving furniture around constantly, switching up rooms, and rearranging. Steve came home from work last week, and I had moved our bedroom into another room with no warning. Thankfully, the kids get all into it and get nearly as excited as I do. They come up with all sorts of crazy creative furniture arrangement ideas (though, the firepole from the bedroom to the kitchen really tops it all. Someday.)
And thankfully, the pillows pass the 'pillow test' in our house. They're good for jumping on.

Aw, come on. Painting isn't that bad. Granted, I only have two children and my Mom just visited with the express purpose of helping us get some interior painting done, but really, it's not that bad. *Wink*
And who doesn't love moving furniture around? It makes things new and fresh and fun. It's not ridiculous at all.
Nice pillows (and rug!). Good luck changing things up for the indoor months.

The pillows are beautiful--I love the fabric combinations and the fact that they are pillows that can be used and loved.

I never thought that I'd say this, but your posts often make me nostalgic for my daughter's toddler-hood. (She is fourteen now. Fortunately, she still enjoys dressing up and living in her own fantasy world.)

You are creative. You could make a floor cloth, either out of very heavy, like 24 ounce cotton duck, or the back side of a piece of vinyl floor covering. It is very easy, and you make it look how ever you want it to look. It is easy. If you want any help, I'll be happy to assit. Your library should also have several book about it.

I had my heart set on a different Angela Adams rug, but we bought a much less expensive chocolate colored wool rug. Every time it gets smeared with various toddler goos (ew), I'm glad she's not smearing things on thousands of dollars!

OMG.. i thought i was the only one who had the compultion to move furniture around. I do it every 3 months like clockwork!
REcently i sat in our home and sighed that i hadn't any new ways of rearranging the house and we were blessed with a chance to move to a bigger house for the same amount of rent in the same community by the same landlord!!! I'm in heaven 'cause the whole house needs to be repainted and organized! That means a fresh canvas!!

the pillows are terrific and look sturdy enough for your crew. the trim on the back is lovely - i so envy your textile stash.
my husband remarked once that my affinity for changing up the rooms was me being restless. maybe it was the new mama thing. although i did eventually agree that it was a bit true. moreso a reflection of what you are feeling/thinking at a certain time in your surroundings. isn't that what design is? i love being able to redefine spaces with just a splash of color and fabric here and there and you never have to call a moving company. it's all about making the very best of your space in the here and now and never saying "oh i wish i had..."
i think it's great and can't wait to see more, amanda!
