the perfect beach accessory

Beachacc
We've been jaunting to the beach lots with the whole family, which actually leaves me sometimes with my hands free for a few moments. Amazing. And the perfect beach accessory for those moments? Well, embroidery, of course. I've been toting along small projects that can just be picked up here and there, and can be easily worked on a beach blanket. I used to bring knitting to the beach, which was always such a mess--the sand, the water, the wool in heat, ick. But this seems just about right...and adding my favorite sound of the needle poking through the fabric to the sounds and sights of my babes at the beach, and well, I'm one very happy Mama.

Bibs
These are the results of our weekend outings. Linen bibs for the babe, who looks like this by the time we get around to the nightly coin toss for who's on cleanup. Perhaps the bibs will help.

Oh, and the photo above? My beach blanket sight: baby toes, my current food obsession (Kettle Foods Krinkle Cut Salt and Black Pepper. Oh, yum.), and embroidery in a recently thrifted tin. And beyond the camera's view...sand, swimming babes, and sun. Can I say it one more time? I love summer!

What a gorgeous foot!
Good idea to bring some embroidery to the beach.

How lovely! And I like the new picture for your blogsite too. Perfect for summer!

You know, Dave's obsessed with those pepper chips. Obsessed.

You know, Dave's obsessed with those pepper chips. Obsessed.

sounds so peaceful.

the bibs are adorable. i'd be afraid to use them!

sounds like heaven! the bibs are lovely and goodness lady, i love s&p chips, but i havent tried those, they are going on my grocery list. and the strawberry pictures below? oh my...

Are those salt & pepper potato chips? I love them SO much. Too much, actually.

The linen bibs are delightful.

Love little Adelaide's foot in the photograph! Those chips are my husband's favorite...they're quite scrumptious! And the bibs are beautiful!

darling bibs! makes me wish i had a wee one to embroider for. love your color choices and patterns, too!

Lovely embroidery. A great idea for sewing notions in a working tin is some refrigerator magnet strip: put it on the bottom or on the lid and it holds your pins and needles.

I do so love those sweet bibs. You inspire me to get out some needle and thread and a bit of fabric to embroider...Wish I knew what the next grand is...(expected in mid December) I suppose that a design of concentric circles would work for either. Thanks for the post! Love the blog! The kids are just so squeezably cute!
:o)

lovely, lovely bibs

The bibs are delightful - I have a friend who is expecting twins in November, and I may just add that to the millions of other little things I want to make for her.

And the beach in Maine looks far more comfortable than the beach down here in Florida...

it sounds so beautiful.. i wish i could go to the beach. *sniff*...

lovely embroidery! :)

Oh, the beach, how I miss it! What a cute foot and sweet embroidery!
Those bibs are beautiful.

mmm Kettle chips are made right here in my town (Salem, Oregon) and I've been loving them for ages. Love the bibs, super cute!

Super cute bibs! And I love your new banner-what a beautiful picture of you and your little family.

Beautiful bibs! And the banner photo is gorgeous. You all look so sweet and summery. Adelaide looks just like you.

I'm going to have to start a coin toss for the messy-baby-bathtime-duty thing at my house too....

Your banner is adorable. I just love it. What a nice picture of your family. I like your little bibs too. You must have great kids to be able to have time to sew like that.

What a sweet post and the bibs are so gorgeous. And Im loving Kettle chips too, but just plain for me...yummmm!

I just wrote about how much heirloom embroidery means to me. You are creating a lovely history for your babes. I have been a long time admirer of your words, but only recently quit lurking.

You almost make me want to go back and do it all again. Mine are 17 and 14 and I still love to hear them laugh and watch them have a good time and want to cuddle them up. It's good to see you enjoying your babes so much. :) Love the embroidered bibs and that tin is yummy! (oh, and I love the pic in your banner. I think you should leave it..it's perfect.)

Ooooh, if you want a delightfully fun and portable project...pick up some smocking as well!
