a dress for the babe

Sheetdress_1
Has enough time passed since I last posted Adelaide wearing something I made? Hmn...I hope so, because that's what I've got for you today. This dress, made with a vintage sheet, and embellished with trim from LesBonRibbon. I started with a vintage pattern, but ended up altering it quite a bit to get just the look I wanted - so much altering, in fact, that it doesn't really fit her. It's too long on the shoulders, and so it won't be quite right for the wedding next month I had it in mind for. But, I'm sure it will be *just right* by next summer.

Oh god. I could seriously lick every fold of her skin. Did I just say that?

Unfortunately this pretty much sums up how she feels about the dress. Get. This. Thing. Off. I guess we'll try again in a year.

That is the sweetest dress and an even sweeter little dumpling of a baby. I'd want to cuddle her all the time, which I'm sure you do! She's precious.

I loved the prints so much that you recommended that I dedicated an entry on my blog to them and you. If interested, check here:

Anyway, just love your site and love seeing all your creativity. It's so inspiring for an uncrafty gal like me!

Glad I'm not the only one who finds babies edible ;) ! She really is lovely.

Bless she is such a sweetie!! She looks extra marvellous in her frock! I'm sure that she will love it by the time that next summer comes!

Your babba is scrumptious and she is too cute for words in that lil' dress!

Darling dress! I have the same thrifted sheet.....I see a smock/blouse for my 5 yr. old little girl in the future....thanks for sharing!

What an adorable dress! The blue flowers bring out her sparkly eyes :)

It turned out wonderful. Love the print.

Almost too too cute to bear! I love the sunshiney print :)

so cute, thanks for giving me a smile. and many thanks for your very sweet words...

such a great little dress and sweet photos--the first one of her is over the top. I keep meaning to check out LesBonRibbon, thanks for reminding me.

VERY sweet dress indeed, on a very sweet little goose. LOVE that ricrack on the big bottom hem -- so retro and perfect.

Lovely dress! And she is definitely very kissable!

perfect! (baby and dress)

As usual - it looks wonderful - alwasy amazed at all you do!

oh my, Adelaide looks like a baby doll with the dress on. You must have a blast with her, it's such a cute age and the dress is perfect.

very cute dress! I have that same thrifted sheet set aside for a project. nothing that cute though :)

Oh please stop it! It's too much. She's so damn cute. Lovely lovely babe

Holy cow, that is so darned sweet that I just spontaneously erupted a cavity! She's gorgeous and the dress is a work of art.

The good thing about dresses and little baby girls is that the dresses fit forever (especially in the 2 yrs - 4 yrs stage) because girls get taller and slimmer but their ribcages don't grow so much. I bet she's able to wear it for a long time and your worst girl-baby clothing task is adusting neck buttons and letting out hems!

Oh gosh. That's so beautiful - baby and dress and all! I can't believe you made that dress! Heirloom!

Holy-mother-of-all-the-cutest-things-I've-ever-seen-this- has-to-be-the-cutest!!!!

This dress is THE cutest!! She is so cute in it.

gah. too much. too much. she is so freaking cute amanda...

The dress is adorable and that baby is so beautiful. My mother is a baby-cheek biter (love nibbles actually) and I love to sniff baby's heads. There's just something that is so warm and sweet. So the licking thing is good, you just might not want to share it with strangers (we're not strangers, we're all your blogfriends - ;-)).

i'm with the thousand other comments on this. so cute and well made and i love the color choices...and ribbon and stitching on the bottom.

gorgeous! Beautiful dress, gorgeous baby girl!

be still my heart! my own isn't interested in wearing dresses either, but they are so precious in them....

It's a very cute dress and good for you for planning ahead for next year!

Awwww...I can't believe how beautiful she is...it's almost too much!!! And that dress looks wonderful on her, and it will too, a year from now I'm sure...lick away! (you KNOW she's not going to let you do that in a few years...lol)

what a beautiful job you did - she will thank you later, i am sure....

The colors and trim are soooo excellent. Really, it's very cute.

Alright Soulemama, spill. How in the name of God do you find the time to crank out all this stuff with two kids and a baby? I really want to know. I have ONE two year old, and I can't do anything!
You're one of those Oprah "Moms On Speed," aren't you?

Adorable, just adorable! Her little smile is too much!

I love that dress! The fabric is really beautiful and it looks so cute on your girl, even being too big!

Oh, she is soooo cute! The last photos made me laugh out loud.
The dress is beautiful!

I know I speak for both Jean and myself when I say, 'Holy crap!' Lady A is so freaking adorable. That smile! And with those toes peeking out? Are you kidding me? I could gobble her up in one bite. Her new dress is adorable. I love the trim and fabric combo.

very sweet dress! now you both have something to look forward to next summer!

Bald head and all those rolly-rolls, she is too cute. Love the dress, you are so good with the colors and trims.

SO sweet. I love how the little blue flowers bring out the blue in her eyes!

You could post a picture of your sweet babe in a handmade frock everyday and I would be happy! She is one of the sweetest little things I have ever seen, that cue ball head runs in my family too!

The dress is so adorable too.

too sweet for words ~ love this age! I'm impressed with your thrifty creativity... :)

oh i wish i'd do something like this for Baby Lilo... i know, i know, it doesn't take much, i actually have a similiar pattern but she's so tiny for now that i think it'd outgrow her in no time. Will i ever have time for the must-do quilt using her "old" clothing?
i hope so. For now, i'll read about your work and how you cope babies/kids+crafts.
I've made a link from my site, if that's a problem, please let me know.
xxooooxo

so friggin' adorable.

she is so incredibly adorable! i love her in that dress. it seems to fit her perfectly -- the sleeves look like cap sleeves, instead of sleeveless. very vintage bebe!

would you knock it off??!! that is just way too much. the dress, the chubby little babe. it's killing me. too much cute to handle. really. stop.

Okay it is a good thing I am no where near Maine because I think you would have cheek nibbling competition! Oh that dress is so completely perfect in everyway!

um, can you make one for me just like this! it is to die for. beautiful.

adelaide is one of the most beautiful names EVER - reminiscent of so many wonderful memories with my very dearest friend back in italy. your little "ade" is such cuteness in that terrific dress - you are always inspiring! and just think, my order from les bon ribbons should be here tomorrow - coincidence!
