a dress for the babe
Has enough time passed since I last posted Adelaide wearing something I made? Hmn...I hope so, because that's what I've got for you today. This dress, made with a vintage sheet, and embellished with trim from LesBonRibbon. I started with a vintage pattern, but ended up altering it quite a bit to get just the look I wanted - so much altering, in fact, that it doesn't really fit her. It's too long on the shoulders, and so it won't be quite right for the wedding next month I had it in mind for. But, I'm sure it will be *just right* by next summer.
Oh god. I could seriously lick every fold of her skin. Did I just say that?
Unfortunately this pretty much sums up how she feels about the dress. Get. This. Thing. Off. I guess we'll try again in a year.

That is the sweetest dress and an even sweeter little dumpling of a baby. I'd want to cuddle her all the time, which I'm sure you do! She's precious.
I loved the prints so much that you recommended that I dedicated an entry on my blog to them and you. If interested, check here:

Anyway, just love your site and love seeing all your creativity. It's so inspiring for an uncrafty gal like me!

Oh please stop it! It's too much. She's so damn cute. Lovely lovely babe

Holy cow, that is so darned sweet that I just spontaneously erupted a cavity! She's gorgeous and the dress is a work of art.
The good thing about dresses and little baby girls is that the dresses fit forever (especially in the 2 yrs - 4 yrs stage) because girls get taller and slimmer but their ribcages don't grow so much. I bet she's able to wear it for a long time and your worst girl-baby clothing task is adusting neck buttons and letting out hems!

Oh gosh. That's so beautiful - baby and dress and all! I can't believe you made that dress! Heirloom!

gah. too much. too much. she is so freaking cute amanda...

The dress is adorable and that baby is so beautiful. My mother is a baby-cheek biter (love nibbles actually) and I love to sniff baby's heads. There's just something that is so warm and sweet. So the licking thing is good, you just might not want to share it with strangers (we're not strangers, we're all your blogfriends - ;-)).

Alright Soulemama, spill. How in the name of God do you find the time to crank out all this stuff with two kids and a baby? I really want to know. I have ONE two year old, and I can't do anything!
You're one of those Oprah "Moms On Speed," aren't you?

I know I speak for both Jean and myself when I say, 'Holy crap!' Lady A is so freaking adorable. That smile! And with those toes peeking out? Are you kidding me? I could gobble her up in one bite. Her new dress is adorable. I love the trim and fabric combo.

You could post a picture of your sweet babe in a handmade frock everyday and I would be happy! She is one of the sweetest little things I have ever seen, that cue ball head runs in my family too!
The dress is so adorable too.

oh i wish i'd do something like this for Baby Lilo... i know, i know, it doesn't take much, i actually have a similiar pattern but she's so tiny for now that i think it'd outgrow her in no time. Will i ever have time for the must-do quilt using her "old" clothing?
i hope so. For now, i'll read about your work and how you cope babies/kids+crafts.
I've made a link from my site, if that's a problem, please let me know.
xxooooxo

adelaide is one of the most beautiful names EVER - reminiscent of so many wonderful memories with my very dearest friend back in italy. your little "ade" is such cuteness in that terrific dress - you are always inspiring! and just think, my order from les bon ribbons should be here tomorrow - coincidence!
